How You Can Help the World Reach Sustainable Development Goals by 2030? 7 Ways

“Be a global citizen. Act with passion and compassion. Help us make this world safer and more sustainable today and for the generations that will follow us. That is our moral responsibility,” said UN Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon while laying out an ambitious plan in front the world—17 sustainable development goals that countries around the world needs to achieve before 2030.

From ending poverty and hunger to ensuring clean water and proper sanitation for everyone to relying more on renewable energy and keeping strict check on climate change—this agenda 2030 lists everything that aims for world’s sustainable growth and better living condition for generations to come.

While it is the government that’s tasked to achieve these goals, a great deal of its success lies in the hands of civil society. You, as an individual, can act responsibly and do a lot of things to help this global movement meets a happy and happening ending by 2030.

Here are 7 easy things you can do to help world reach its sustainable development goals even before the given time-

1. MAKE TIME

Whatever you do to contribute in this movement, you must be willing to give in your time. So be certain to make time every week—even if it’s just few hours. Separate these hours from your busy schedule, dedicate yourself wholly into the tasks you undertake.

2. Get to know about these goals and inform others

You won’t make progress unless you know (and understand) these goals clearly. So, first task at hand is to invest your time in knowing about these goals. Next, inform others what you now know. Online channels – social media platforms and forums – are great avenues to spread the words and to create awareness to other people.

3. Practice efficient waste management

Waste management recycling is one of the most important steps for a better and sustained tomorrow. So have you been reluctant to proper waste treatment, you better get serious now. It’s quite simple and cheap (and of course, hygienic to you and your family). Have a skip bin at your home or neighbourhood, and dial waste management companies for proper waste removal and recycling.

4. Join a local community, NGO

There are countless Non-profit, Non-Government Organizations who are working independently to help reach these sustainable development goals. And they are in desperate need of people’s time and skills. Be a part of these communities. Contribute whatever time and skill you can and have.

5. Conserve energy at home and office

A huge chunk of natural resources are used in generating electricity. So strive to save as much of electricity at home and workplace as possible. Don’t keep those lights on all the time; make use of natural light. Install efficient lights and other electronics that save energy and prevents energy leakages.

6. Get rid of the habit of wasting water

Millions of people around the world still don’t have proper access to water, let alone clean water. Women and men have to walk miles every day just to collect a bucket of water. Understand this reality and limit your daily water use. Stop using and wasting too much water when taking shower; don’t leave the tap on. Teach your kids and friends about conserving water.

7. Form a community of like-minded people to work together

When you’re in a group – and that, of like-minded people – you’re much stronger. So form a community of people who share the same interest and passion towards reaching these goals; people who are willing to be the global citizens. Your tasks will become much easier and quicker (and fun).
These are 7 things you can do help us reach the ambitious sustainable development goals by 2030. Now you know, play your part, and be a game-changer.

Follow the Easy Waste Management Tips and Tricks to Save the Ecosystem

Be it in your own household, or locality, generation of truckloads of waste is a common and regular affair.  But the question is whether you are managing it properly or not. There is nothing new with the fact that our ecosystem is dangerously threatened by pollution and ballooning population, degrading slowly every day. We think that dumping the waste into the dustbin is what our work ends with, but is our utmost duty and responsibility to make sure that the waste disposal happened through the right technique, and we are managing the waste properly without threatening the environment. You can follow simple steps and experts advised tips or contact the leading general waste collection companies to do your task smoothly for the locality or society. They are professionally equipped with right tools and manpower to execute the management of waste, and clean your area completely, being environmentally sustainable.

Everyday our household also produces a lot of waste, and often forgets to recycle them and dump them without thinking at all. If you want to contribute to environmental stability and well-being, here are some tips.

Go for the eco-friendly goods

Waste in your household or locality comes from the goods we use every day, and for this you have a solution. Make sure that you only try and use the eco-friendly products everyday which when dumped wont pose any threat to the ecosystem.  They do not harm the environment, and are degradable, apart from being sustainable too.

Switch to paper from plastic

You should switch to the usage of paper made items instead of using the products made directly from plastic. Plastic is toxic to the soil, and plastic waste when burnt down causes the emission of toxic gases like methane that results in dangerous air pollution. Thus, you must make sure that you are using paper products instead of the plastic ones.

Recycle the paper products

The papers which you are dumping in the dust bin can be reused and recycled to make new products for everyday usage, from notebooks to other stuffs. This will save a lot of trees, and also help you contribute to the safety and stability of the environment. Reuse as much as you can and make paper envelops, paper bags and other paper made items from the waste products.

Dispose properly

To help the waste management companies go easy on their regular task, try to put some effort by disposing the waste properly. Segregate the waste products a dry and wet ones, as that helps the garbage collectors a lot in their task while they take them to dump into the landfills. If things get mixed, contact the waste management company to go for mixed waste recycling.

The use of organic waste

You can either contact the waste management service provider or do it by yourself to turn the waste materials to manure or compost. The organic waste acts as a great way to fertilise your garden.

Donate unused things

You can decrease the production of waste by donating the excess items available in  your home to the NGOs or to the needy people.

Recycling, Document Shredding, More- 5 Ways to Be More Responsible Business Owner

While you may be making a decent profit from your business, offering high-flying products to your customers and paying good wage to your employers, you might NOT necessarily be a responsible business owner.

Fact is, being good doesn’t mean being responsible—responsible to the society, consumers and the environment.

And perhaps this may be the biggest difference between you and your successful competitors. Who knows!

So, how do I become a responsible business owner?

Worry not, we have you covered. Here are 5 simple (and cost effective) ways to be more accountable—

1.     Document shredding- Your customers’ details are something important that must be destroyed after you’re done with them. If lost and end up in the wrong hands, you (and that customer) can be in a great deal of trouble. In fact, in many countries, there are laws that bind businesses to dispose customers’ information safely. And this is where document shredding comes in. Make sure you have properly destroyed such documents.

2.     Paying tax- As a business owner, maintaining a financial book and paying tax ON TIME is the biggest thing you can do for the society. So, ensure you’re finical clean and up-to-dated with all tax settlement.

3.     Recycling- With so much concern lurking around the health of the environment, recycling has become an outcry for the environmentalists around the world. Be a part of this global movement. Recycle everything that you can, from paper to metals. And not just at your company/office, also practice household waste recycling.

4.     Going digital- What’s better than recycling papers? Not using papers in the first place. We know that it’s easier said than done. However, you must reduce the amount papers your company requires or use. Today, there exist just as convenient e-alternatives.

5.     Proper waste management- Hiring professional waste management company could be a great decision for you. Whether recycling or disposal, these companies ensure the waste is treated as needed and efficiently, all the while minimizing its impact on the surroundings. Some of these service providers in Adelaide charge fairly low—making them a very cost-effective option.

These are 5 very simple and effective ways you—and everyone—must follow to be a more responsible business owner.
